As Activn first year comes to an end, we thought it would be a great time to create a summary of the amazing benefits of Tencel lycocell fabric in general and our sustainable clothing brand in particular when it comes to natural comfort, breathability, ecological benefits and more.
Made locally. Good for your body, good for the environment. We are proud to be able to manufacture athletic clothes in Toronto, it reduces the environmental impact of the manufacturing process, it also helps us to control the quality closely and make sure that our workout clothes are made in a responsible manner.
Fabrics like bamboo and lyocell are the most breathable and therefore the most ideal to keep warmer in the winter cold and cooler in the hot summer. These two fibers originate from the pulp of plants that are immobile, and survive on auto managing variations in heat and cold!
Polyester, nylon, acrylic, vinyl, fleece and other 100% synthetic fabric usually don’t get the thermal regulation for your body that natural fibers get because air won’t easily pass through them and air-permeability is what is critical to keep you comfortable in any outdoor conditions.
The Austrian company Lenzing branded Lyocell fibers are derived from sustainable wood sources, created through an environmentally responsible process with low environmental impact. The pulp of trees is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. The solution is then extruded through fine holes to produce fiber and the solvent is recovered in a closed-loop process, more than 99% of the solvent is recycled and reused.
It is perfect for athletic wear as Tencel™ Lyocell based fabric helps you to stay cool, dry and comfortable naturally. “Textiles made from TENCEL have a luxurious texture, are softer than silk and cooler than linen. Tencel is biodegradable, breathable, and resistant to wrinkles.
Why activewear made of natural fibers like I wore today keep me comfy, not too hot, not too cold, and help regulate my body temperature when I work out in the winter chill or summer heat? because natural fibers have to withstand variations in temperature for the life of the organic beings they originate from, natural thermal regulation: How a worm (silk), sheep (#merinowool), bamboo plants (#bambooclothing) or Eucalyptus trees (Tencel lyocell) have to function compared to a man-made polluting petrochemical fabric like polyester or nylon!
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified clothing inspire confidence in the clothes you buy by ensuring that environmental and corporate responsibility were respected. No harmful substances and toxins were used during all stages of production creating a safer working conditions for all employees and make the garment hypoallergenic.
Carbon footprint is the amount of CO2 produced by a person or industry, which contributes to the climate change greatly.
We are proud to announce that our activewear line is mainly made of Tencel Lyocell, a fiber created and manufactured by the Lenzing group, on its way to become the first carbon neutral fiber producer in the world! A a first milestone is set for 2030, when Lenzing plans to reduce CO2 emissions per ton of product by almost 50% compared to a 2017 baseline.
Lyocell fabric is very well adopted to cold temperature and one of the best natural fabrics to keep your warm in the winter weather for all your outdoor activities. Why is that?
Natural fibers help regulate the body temperature whenever on an early morning winter run, or a hike in the summer heat because organic based, nature-made fibers have to withstand variations in temperature, weather and humidity for the life of the animal or botanic beings they originate from. Simple.
